10.15.18 – Japan Day 11

sphoto, sphotohi, sphotohawaii, japan, templeThis was a sad day for us guys!  This was technically our last full day in Japan and we spent it at Tsukiji fish market in the morning, then headed over to Sensoji temple in Asakusa.  I didn’t get too many photos at Tsukiji because I was too busy enjoying fresh seafood, from raw oysters, to steamed king crab legs, and everything else they have to offer at the market.  I did however film some clips of the market, so be on the look out for the videos.  After the market, we went to Sensoji temple to see what all the buzz was all about there.  I’d have to say, it is a very high tourist trap, but they do offer some tasty street dessert’s to cool souvenir’s to bring home for friends and family.  Like any other temple in Japan, it was a sight to see!  I was always amazed by the architecture of the buildings there.

This is the last journal entry to the trip, as the next day was our last day, and we didn’t do much but prepare for the airport and spent almost the whole time at the airport waiting for our flight.  Look out for the videos that are to come though!  I captured a lot more footage than photos on this trip.

As for the overall trip to Japan, I can honestly say I enjoyed the 2 weeks in this country a whole lot!  I was amazed by the culture there, how everything ran so smooth and organized, how clean it was, etc.  I’d recommend visiting this place if you already haven’t yet, or to go back again, because I’d definitely come back one day!

10.14.18 – Japan Day 10

What’s good everybody!  Sorry for the skipped days, but during day 8 & 9, all we did was basically shop all day (both days) and nothing too exciting which I thought were significant enough to film or shoot.  But during day 10, we headed over to Yokomaha to check out the Cup Noodle Museum!  If you ever visit Japan, I recommend visiting this place at least once!  This was a cool experience, learning about how instant cup ramen was made, the history behind the cup noodles, and even got to customize our own cups and decide what ingredients we wanted inside our custom cup noodles.  If I remembered correctly, we both got the same soup base, we both got corn, the only differences were I also added pork and green onion in mine, and the girlfriend added kimchi and tofu I think?

After the museum, we had a late lunch  at Shake Shack.  I know not your typical Japan food, but we don’t have that in Hawaii and burgers sounded good to both of us.  It was sooooooo gooooood!

10.13.18 – Japan Day 8

What’s up guys!

I know…i know, I haven’t posted in a while but hey! Here I am again bringing you another part of our Japan adventures. In this video, I mashed it up with a few places we hit up; Akihabara, Ginza, and Shibuya. This was towards the last week of our stay and we basically just did a bunch of tourist stuff, ate good food, and finished up our shopping. Man, every time I edit these videos, I get all sad and wish I was back in Japan on another vacation lol. Anyways, enjoy this one and look out for more future travel videos! Peace!!

10.11.18 – Japan Day 7

(IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR THE VIDEO FOR THIS DAY, I PUT THIS DAY TOGETHER WITH DAY 5 SO SCROLL DOWN TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED!)

Today we went to Odaiba to check out the digital art museum.  This place was trippy as fuck!!!!!!!  It had a lot of cool rooms and I just enjoyed the all the digital art that was presented.  This day was also our last day at our 2nd hotel, the Shinjuku Granbell Hotel.  We had to say good bye to our big ass room and move to Shibuya to a smaller room but it’s frickin’ lit here in Shibuya!  If I was to compare this place to back home, I’d say it’s like Waikiki but way bigger and way more things to do and places to eat!  After checking into Shibuya, we went straight to shopping at the “mega” don quijote for some goods for back home.  Then we headed back to our hotel where I am now to turn in for the night.  I didn’t think I was gonna get to editing these photo’s because of how hectic the day was (believe me the day was way more hectic than I made it seem lol) but I wanted to get these out of the way so I wouldn’t have to worry about these tomorrow.  We have another big day planned ahead of us so I’m gonna turn in as well.  Japan is a blast so far and I don’t want it to end, but I’m already missing home, and starting to hate catching subways or taxi’s lol.  Stay tuned for tomorrow!

I will keep mentioning this too, don’t worry videos are coming of this trip.  I just have time to get to the photos first, plus,  we didn’t finish this trip yet and have much more exploring to do!  Follow me on instagram (@sphotohi) to keep up with what we’re doing in Japan in the mean time.

sphoto, sphotohi, sphothawaii, japan, tokyo, disney, disney land, disneysea, disney seasphoto, sphotohi, sphothawaii, japan, tokyo, disney, disney land, disneysea, disney seaWhat’s up guys!  Today was another early day for us.  We didn’t wake up super early though.  Probably around 730 a.m. and we got ready for Tokyo Disneysea.  I didn’t bring my camera with me today because I knew it would be bulky and we would be doing a lot of walking and riding rides and being hella tourist lol.  So we used the girlfriend’s camera (she has a canon G7x) because hers is smaller and mobile to pull in and out from a bag and just shoot.  But we got so caught up with waiting in lines for rides and getting disney snacks and foods that shooting totally went over our heads and we just enjoyed the day like a regular normal day anyone would on a trip.  We wished we both shot more content but it was real nice to just enjoy a whole day “normally” (with not having to worry about shooting or anything like that).  This was literally my 2nd day out of the whole trip I had time to actually enjoy the day.  Sounds kind of sad when I know I love shooting memories of things we do, but sometimes I feel I need a break here and there too.  It can sometimes be overwhelming to be pressured with having to edit at the end of the night, especially when you’re hella tired and just wanna turn in for the night, but this is the kind of shit I love doing.  I took a few clips here and there of today and these were a few photos we took before just going on with the day.  We’re still here in Japan for a couple more days so there will be more content coming.  Looking forward to the day tomorrow!

10.9.18 – Japan Day 5

*UPDATE 3.3.19* Video of day 5 & 7 in Japan in Harajuku and the Digital Art Museum in Odaiba

sphoto, sphotohi, sphotohawaii, japan, tokyo, harajuku, fashion, canon, canon 80d, photography

Our first official day in Tokyo.  Started the day off on a short train ride to Harajuku to do some shopping and shooting around the area.  We got there kind of early so it wasn’t crowded at first, but once lunch time hit, the streets were filled with hella people!  Like you would think to yourself, “where the hell did everyone come from?!” lol.  We spent a few hours on that street we were on (sorry but I can’t remember the name of it) until we left to grab lunch at Ichiran (if you haven’t eaten there yet, it’s a must try!) then headed back to our hotel.  Ok funny story, so the girlfriend booked the wrong room supposedly by “accident” and the first night we spent at our new hotel was spent in a really tiny room (but japan is known for small room spaces), almost similar to our room back in Osaka.  So we had to spend that first night in our small room then check out that morning and check back in around 3 into our new rooms.  But I can’t complain because our new room is so much bigger and way nicer than the first one lol.  Anyways’s I’m gonna call it a night because we need to be up early because we’re going to Tokyo Disneysea!!!

10.8.18 – Japan Day 4

*UPDATE 1.7.19* Video of day 4 in Japan at Osaka Castle

sphoto, sphotohi, sphotohawaii, japan, osaka, osaka castle

This was our final day in Osaka and we haven’t visited the most popular attraction there; Osaka Castle!  We also had to catch the Shinkansen (bullet train) to Tokyo later in the day, so we took it easy this morning and got up around 8 and caught a short train ride to Osaka Castle.  All the architecture here is mind blowing and breath taking and seeing the castle in person was a nice experience.  There really isn’t much else to say because after the castle, we went back to our hotel to check and was on our way to the station to catch our train to Tokyo.  From then on it was just lugging our luggage’s everywhere and catching taxi’s until we got to our 2nd hotel in Shinjuku.  Although we had a very pleasant and nice stay at our first hotel in Osaka, I gotta say our 2nd hotel is a huge upgrade!

Videos are coming of this trip.  We just didn’t finish this trip yet and have much more exploring to do!  Follow me on instagram (@sphotohi) to keep up with what we’re doing in Japan in the mean time.

10.7.18 – Japan Day 3

*UPDATE 11.29.18* Video of day 3 in Japan at Arashiyama Bamboo Grove & Daigoji Temple

Today we woke up extra extra early like around 430 a.m. because we were on our way to the Arashiyama bamboo grove in Kyoto and wanted to beat the crowds so they wouldn’t end up in our shots.  It was a cool morning too and the sun didn’t come out until mid afternoon.  The cool weather was nice while it lasted.  After the grove, we went to check out Daigoji temple, which took us about maybe 2 hours because we apparently got onto the wrong train or we weren’t paying close attention to the stops along the line lol.  Originally it was supposed to take us maybe an hour to get to the temple via subway.  On top of that, we managed to walk uphill from the station to the temple (you will do so much walking when in Japan), and if you haven’t been to Daigoji temple before, that has so much ground to cover!  It was really nice though and very educating, learning about the history and everything about that place.  We ended our day by heading back to our hotel in Shinsaibashi and wanted to rest for a few hours before grabbing dinner and seeing what the night life was like at Dotonburi.  I didn’t bring my camera out with me since I knew we were just gonna shop around and eat.  This was a really productive day.  I mean every single day of our stay here is productive.  If you plan to go on a trip to Japan, just be prepared to do a lot of exploring, learning how to catch the subway, and just have fun in general!

Videos are coming of this trip.  We just didn’t finish this trip yet and have much more exploring to do!  Follow me on instagram (@sphotohi) to keep up with what we’re doing in Japan.

10.6.18 – Japan Day 2

*UPDATE 11.12.18* Video of day 2 in Japan at Fushimi Inari-taisha & Kinkaku-ji

sphoto, sphotohi, sphotohawaii, kinkakuji temple, kinkakuji, kyoto, travel, travel photography, landscape photography, canon, canon 80d

We both weren’t having this day because the weather was being bipolar and it was either raining, sunny and hot, or both.  Plus there were crowds of people there and we aren’t people persons when it comes to large crowds lol. We went to Fushimi Inari Taisha and Kinkakuji temple.  Those places were beautiful and a sight to see, especially that temple made of gold.  At the end of the day, our feet hurt so much (or maybe it was just me lol) because we did hella walking and taking trains and other types of transportion, but what good is an adventure if you don’t go out and explore right?

Like I said in the day below, do not worry.  Videos are coming of this trip.  We just didn’t finish this trip yet and have much more exploring to do!  Follow me on instagram (@sphotohi) to keep up with what we’re doing in Japan.  Oh and I’d like to say, “ALOHA!” to all the new followers of the blog and can’t wait to show you guys everything else we do on this trip!!!!!

10.5.18 – Japan Day 1

*UPDATE 11.2.18* Video of our flight out to Japan and what we did on day 1

Official day 1 of our Japan trip.  We woke up around 6am to start our day.  We got ready, got some breakfast at Japan’s awesome 711 (I swear they got the best 711 I ever experienced lol) and then we was on our way to Kaiyuken Aquarium in Osaka.  I ain’t gonna lie, it was hella fun to be at an aquarium and there were even field trips for the elementary schools because there were so much little kids there and it was pretty crowded on a work day.  This place was over the top!  What took me away was how they even took the time to make the atmosphere feel like we were in the exact locations of where the sea animals originate from.  Japan is over the top but who’s complaing? Not me that’s for sure!  After the aquarium, we rode on their giant ferris wheel and even chose the see-through cabin (you have a choice for FREE to pick either the all glass cabin or a normal cabin which basically only has windows) so I could shoot some stuff while we were at the top.  Don’t worry, video is coming for sure, but that’s after the trip after I compile everything together.  Just enjoy these post I put out for now and look forward to everyday we’re here in Japan.  Follow me on IG to stay updated and watch my stories too @sphotohi!!!!!  It’s another day tomorrow so look out for that!

10.4.18 – Flight Out To Japan

From Hawaii to gloomy Japan.  The flight out to Japan was pretty long I ain’t gonna lie.  But I’m so glad to be here!  The flight out was tiring and basically took a whole day and something hours from Hawaii, but I always wanted to come here so I’ll be sure this trip is worth it!  The girlfriend and I was so exhausted from the flights that we ended up staying in.  It ain’t a waste of a night, but a much needed recooperation of the day to come.
