Day 4 Of Japan! Osaka Castle and Last Day In Osaka :(

I finally got some free time to continue working on these! This was officially our last day in Osaka. Beautiful place that was laid back compared to when we went to Tokyo. It was a good thing though that we went to Osaka first instead of Tokyo, because I would’ve probably missed the Tokyo vibe to begin with! lol.

Like I said, Osaka felt like it was more laid back to me and the people there were “nicer” and just had a “homey” feel. If I was to go back to Japan again, I’d definitely go to Osaka first. Or maybe switch it up and go to Tokyo first, then to Osaka. Idk though, who know’s what the next Japan adventure will be.

But this last day, we went to visit the famous Osaka castle but didn’t make it to the top of the castle. We paid our fare to get into the castle, but once we saw the line to go up the elevator to the top, I wasn’t down for that lol. Plus we were on a time schedule to catch our bullet train to Tokyo so we couldn’t waste any time! It was a cool historic place to visit though. Now I can say I been to the famous Osaka Castle lol.

More videos from the Japan trip are sure to come. Keep a look out for those. In the mean time, enjoy this one!

New Year’s Eve 2018 HAWAII STYLE & GLOWING RED BURNOUT!!!!!

It’s become a tradition in Hawaii to light up the sky every NYE, but since fireworks got became illegal (I wanna say circa ’98 – ’99. I can’t remember exactly anymore because it’s been that long), that didn’t put a stop to this “tradition” of ringing in the new year at 12 a.m. midnight.

I also made my last big purchase of 2018 to be a drone because I had been planning on getting one soon anyway and what better time of the year is there to test it out and get some cool footage other than New Year’s Eve?!

As soon as it struck midnight, non stop booming and colorful displays of flashing lights took over the skies, to your old school “reds” popping on the ground, to people burning out, just ringing in the new year as best as they could.

I gotta say, these drone shots came out pretty nuts. Check out the video and let me know what you guys think! I can’t wait for NYE 2019 to roll around!!!!!!!

Braised Italian Chicken

What’s going on everybody!

Back again with another food video. This time, I was craving something hearty, something with a thick sauce, and something that would make me feel good after eating it over rice lol. That something was braised italian chicken!

Super simple dish to make with minimal prep work. But once it’s finished cooking, oh boy, you’ll be patting yourself on the back because of how delicious this turned out.

It’s hearty, full of flavor, chicken is fork tender and you can cut it with your fork, and best of all, this probably would’ve cost more at a restaurant, when you have the comfort of making this in your own home.

I served this over rice, because in Hawaii, we eat everything with rice, and I’m asian lol. But seriously, rice in Hawaii accompanies basically any dish. But you can serve this dish over pasta too or whatever else you want as starch, but rice or pasta would be best. A side of garlic bread would’ve paired with this dish perfectly too but I didn’t have any at the time so no garlic bread this time.

Sura Hawaii For Lunch!

What’s good everybody! Here again with a foodie video from one of Hawaii’s popular kbbq spots, Sura! This restaurant originally opened in Honolulu under the name, “678” (for the og’s that remember that name). A decision was made though, in 2016 to split off from that franchise and changed their name to, “Sura”. Despite the name change, they’re still the same, awesome restaurant back when they were called…..continue reading

Day 3 of Japan! Arashiyama Bamboo Grove & Daigoji Temple | Kyoto

What’s good guys! Day 3 finally done. I’ve been busy with other things, but was slowly finishing this video, little by little, everyday. The adventure for this day was to Kyoto again, but we woke up extra early to shoot at the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove. It’s sort of like a hike with a view point somewhere up top, but we didn’t make it in that far, as we had a schedule to keep during our stay in Japan.

We woke up super early to beat the crowds and so we wouldn’t have people in our shots. If we waited later to go, this spot would’ve been crowded! It was a nice, cool morning that day too which we enjoyed a lot. So peaceful and calm there.

Then we decided to check out Daigoji Temple. I never knew how far this place was from the train station, but we did majority walking and taking trains. We hardly took any taxi’s to save some money. My feet hurt so back from this day from all the walking lol. But Daigoji Temple covers huge ground from the base of a mountain to the top. There’s a museum and other smaller temples at the base, and as you make your way to the top, you’ll hit Bentendo Hall, which is one of the most photographed buildings there. It’s located next to a relaxing pond. Definitely something worth checking out.

To end the day, we just headed back to our hotel in Shinsaibashi and wanted to see what the night life was like in Dotonbori. I didn’t bring my camera for that because I just wanted to relax and enjoy the vacation for once lol.

Japanese Chicken Curry

sphoto, sphotohi, sphotohawaii, sphotofood, food, curry, japanese curry, chicken curry, japanese chicken curry, japan chicken curry, japan curry, cooking, recipe, curry recipe, japan curry recipe, japanese chicken curry recipe, japan chicken curry recipeWhat’s up guys! I’ve been sitting on this for a while and finally decided to make the leap for this and start creating content about my foodie adventures. This is the start of many more food content that’s about to come in the near future. I’ll keep all the food videos in a designated playlist just for food purposes. I’ll still be posting my regular content on here but just know, it will be a mixture of basically everything I enjoy, which would be my regular work, traveling, and food! Now I’m no pro chef or anything. I just enjoy cooking (most people don’t know that about me) just as much as the next guy and I love watching other peoples videos when they cook or eat which gets me super hungry! I was craving Japanese curry and I wanted a (somewhat) healthy alternative to beef so I used boneless skinless chicken thighs instead. You can use whatever you want! That’s the fun about cooking your own dishes. IT’S YOUR COOKING, YOUR RECIPE, YOUR EVERYTHING. So experiment and find what you like and just go for it!

Day 2 of Japan! Fushimi Inari-taisha & Kinkaku-ji

What’s up guys! I finally got around to finishing day 2 of the stuff we did while in Japan. We went to explore Kyoto for a bit and went to check out Fushimi Inari-taisha and Kinkaku-ji temple. In a nutshell, Fushimi Inari-taisha is where you’ll find the torii, or the bright orange traditional gates all lined up leading up a mountain. Kinkaku-ji is where you’ll find the golden pavilion, one of the famous tourist attractions in Kyoto.

Unfortunately, it was a gloomy and rainy morning which limited me to some of the shooting that I did. I didn’t want my camera and gear to get wet and damaged so I shot whatever I could when I had the chance. Plus if you’re planning to go anywhere that’s a tourist attraction, I’d suggest going early in the morning to avoid all the crowds if you’re looking to take some photos or video because once peak time hits, the crowds will just keep pouring in!

I’m glad we got to learn and physically see some history of Japan tho. It’s definitely some places to check out if you’re visiting Japan for the first time or if you’re looking for places/things to do.

Flight Out and Day 1 of Japan!!!

What’s up guys! This is officially the start of the Japan trip the girlfriend and I took in the beginning of October. In this video I showed our flight from Honolulu to Japan and what we ended up doing on our first official day there. I can’t tell you how much this video got me in my feels about Japan while I was creating it! Japan is just an amazing place! If you haven’t visited there yet, IT’S A MUST, or if you have already been there, then you already know why I’m in my feels lol.

Check out what we did and I can promise you that more videos from the trip are in the works and coming soon!  You can also peep the photos and read about the other things we did while in Japan.  There might not be too much photos this time, but that’s because I took a majority of video clips to sharpen my video skills even further.

I’ll also be moving travel content from the journal into it’s own section which will be labeled, “Travel”.  So look out for that!

Japan Day 11 (Our Last Official Day In Japan)

sphoto, sphotohi, sphotohawaii, japan, templeThis was our LAST DAY in Japan and it was a bittersweet feeling.  Mostly on the sad side because when you’re having a blast on a vacation, you want it to last as long as possible without it having to end.  But all good things must come to an end and this day was it.  We spent our last full day exploring and eating breakfast at Tsukiji Market, then went to check out the Sensoji Temple in Asakusa.  The rest of the day/night was last minute shopping and eating whatever food we could that we can’t experience back at home.  Japan was one the most awesome countries we ever visited in my opinion and we are definitely going back again one day.  Continue reading here or click on the photo above to see how our trip ended.
